Why Start a Blog in the First Place?

Maybe you’re not sure if now is the right moment how to start a blog. Then listen to what I have to say!

Please don’t let worries prevent you from creating your own fantastic blog and future!

I know from experience that we may be our own worst critic. What would other people think if they discovered you had started a blog? These are quite natural thoughts. I had those as well! But trust me when I say that establishing a blog was the best decision I’ve ever made.

How to Start a Blog in 2023 – 6 Step Tutorial Quick Easy2

Now, here are some common arguments I get from readers in the comments that I want you to be aware of. They may prevent you from finally accomplishing it:

It’s too late to begin!
Nope. It’s not too late in 2023 to start a blog! You’re exactly on time! Blogging and social media are still very popular. Don’t listen to the naysayers. According to WordPress data, in 2020, over 409 million individuals will read blogs EACH MONTH. And why should others be interested in blogging if you are?

I’m not very tech-savvy!
Starting a blog does not require a degree in IT or software engineering! Believe me, I started a blog with ZERO experience. And I’m here to help you every step of the way! You can make a blog in 15 minutes flat – no joke – you’ve got this!

Starting a blog is prohibitively expensive!
Yes, beginning a blog the right way does necessitate a small initial expenditure. But it’s not all that much.

Making money from your blog is a fraud!
I completely understand; there are swindlers and liars all over the internet. Indeed, it takes work, but I know you can do it if you put in the effort.

Please don’t let negative self-talk or the opinions of others derail your blogging success!

Ok, let’s now jump into the first step of how to start a blog!

Begin your own blog by purchasing hosting from Bluehost for less than $2.95 per month. You also get a free domain name! There’s no need to hire a programmer, learn code, or spend hours staring at a computer!

Step 1 – Choose a Blog Niche

A blog niche is the core topic of your site, such as a cooking blog. There are also bigger blog niches, such as lifestyle blogs, which write about multiple themes on a single blog.
Coming up with blog post ideas might be a daunting task. It’s easy to become trapped because you’re afraid of making the wrong choice. I know because I’ve been there, and I understand!
But don’t get bogged down in the process of determining your specialization. You can still switch niches or create a second blog.

Can all Blog Specialists make money?

To be honest, I believe so. You wouldn’t believe it, but I’ve seen the most fantastic blogs produce money.

I believe that if you’re passionate about a topic and can solve an issue for your audience, you can generate money from your blog.

To get your creative juices going, here’s a list of my favourite successful blogging themes that have already been proven to work for others:

  • Education
  • Tech
  • Money, Finance & Investing
  • Lifestyle
  • Travel
  • Home Decor
  • Food
  • Beauty & Fashion
  • Pets
  • Blogging about Blogging
  • Moms + Parenting
  • DIY + Crafts
  • Health, Fitness & Nutrition

Okay, do you feel inspired and ready to go?

Let’s get started on selecting your profitable blog niche right away. So, how can you come up with your own fantastic blog niche concept?

Finding your profitable blog niche with 4 ways

  1. It is critical to establish a blog in a field in which you believe you have experience and enjoy talking about. There is no requirement to obtain a university degree in it. Choose a topic about which you are familiar.
  2. Your blog should produce useful information for your readers. Solving difficulties or inspiring others will generate followers who will return and eventually pay for a solution to their problem.
  3. Do some research to see if others are interested in your niche idea. If so, congratulations! It indicates that people are interested in the subject. Where do these individuals congregate? Learn about them and their issues.
  4. If you can easily imagine a product in your niche that would make your audience’s lives easier and better, it’s usually a good idea to start a blog on that subject.

Step 2 – How to Start a Blog

Three things are required how to start a blog! I refer to these as the “3 Pillars of a Blog,” Like:

  1. Content Management System (CMS)
  2. Hosting
  3. Domain

1. Content Management System (CMS)

CMS is the primary platform for all of our blog posts and products, and it is where you will spend most of your time generating and performing the actual work. We’ll be using WordPress.org, which is completely free!
WordPress.org hosts more than 90% of all blogs worldwide. It is the most effective blogging platform. Period.

2. Hosting

As a result, the second pillar of your blog is known as a host. A blog host gives you space (land) on their server to keep your blog and content. Bluehost hosting costs between $2.95 and $6.99 per month, but it’s well worth it.

3. Domain

Your blog needs an online address so that people can discover it, which is known as DOMAIN. Your domain is the blog URL that you can offer to someone so they can join you.

Step 3 – Get to Know WordPress

It’s now time to get acquainted with WordPress.
WordPress is the blogging platform you’ll use to produce posts, design your blog, and conduct all of your SEO so that people can discover you.
You’ll be spending a lot of time here, so I recommend getting to know WordPress before you start writing your first article. WordPress is much simpler than you think.
But it is undeniably new software that you must first learn. So don’t worry about it. Simply take one step at a time.

What Should You Write About?

Your blog postings are the lifeblood of your blogging business! I cannot emphasize this more.
Please don’t feel obligated to write 100 blog entries in order to be a successful blogger. That’s a great start if you can create 10 truly high-quality posts.
Create contents that are relevant, helpful, covers all angles, and is written with the reader in mind.

All of the photographs, videos, PDFs, and other materials you posted to a blog post, page, or blog are saved in your media library.

Pages and posts in WordPress appear quite similar, yet they serve slightly distinct functions. To provide material that does not change frequently, you should build a page rather than a post.

Here are some examples of blog pages:

  • About Me Page
  • Contact Page
  • Services and Pricing
  • Legal Pages

WordPress plugins are pieces of software that extend the functionality of your blog.

Simply download, install, and activate the plugin, and the additional function or feature will be added to your site – how wonderful is that? There is a plugin for everything, and the best part is that the majority of them are free!

Here is a list of the plugins I use on my blog:

You can create multiple user accounts under the “User” tab.

If you’re launching a blog with your best buddy, you can create both a distinct login and password to log in.

Later in your blogging career, you may wish to engage a virtual assistant, a programmer, a developer, or other individuals to assist you with your site.

You may assign each person a user role and determine how much authority they have to move about and update items on your website.

Step 4 – Install a Theme + Design your Blog

We can now concentrate on our blog design now that we’ve finished learning WordPress. One of the most enjoyable aspects of being a blogger.

The design and appearance of your blog are determined by the theme you use. You can personalize your theme to reflect your brand and business. You can start with free WP themes or purchase a professionally created theme.

You can easily change from a free to a premium theme later on. And there’s no reason why you can’t run a profitable blog using a free theme.
But, to be honest, I prefer a paid theme. They are designed by professionals, are optimized for Google and mobile, and save you a lot of time. And, sure, I am a sucker for adorable designs.

I like and recommend the following themes:

Step 5 – Build Traffic

It’s time to get some people to visit your blog after you’ve set it up and written your first few pieces. When I first started blogging, I assumed that people would just appear as I pushed the publish button.
The problem is, if you don’t inform people about your website, how are they meant to find your fantastic content?

You must be visible online and market your content through Google, social media, and forums. If you don’t include a link to your blog somewhere, no one will know it exists. But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered!

Here are my two favourite methods for increasing blog visitors. Blog traffic is simply the number of people who visit your blog on a daily basis.

Pinterest

Pinterest is by far my best platform for increasing visitors to my blog. Pinterest combines social media and a search engine. This suggests that individuals enjoy hanging out on Pinterest and specifically using it to discover solutions to questions.

You should use Pinterest to promote your blog entries. Simply make a Pinterest pin that directs people to one of your blog entries. If someone on Pinterest is interested in the issue, they can click on the pin and be taken to your website.

Google & SEO

SEO and Google intimidate many new bloggers. I completely understand. So let’s take it one step at a time.

SEO is an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization. It entails tactics such as keyword research and crafting long-optimized pieces of content in order to rank high on Google.

Assume someone searches a keyword in Google and your blog article appears in the search results. They then click on it and are sent to your website. This is how Google will drive visitors to your blog.

Ranking high on Google and receiving a lot of organic traffic can mean the difference between your blogging business flourishing or failing.

Step 6 – Make Money from Your Blog

We’re investing a significant amount of time, energy, and understanding to develop a blog. And if your content is assisting individuals in solving their problems, it is acceptable to be compensated for your efforts!

Here are three reasons why it’s critical to consider how to monetize your blog from the start:

  1. First and foremost, you have the right to earn money if you provide good information, my friend! You work tirelessly to create reader-friendly material and solve an issue for your audience; you deserve to be compensated!
  2. Second, if you start making money as a blogger right away, you’ll be extremely driven to keep up the hard work that blogging entails.
  3. Third, if you make money as a blogger within the first month of opening your blog, you will be able to use this money to further invest in services and possibly advertisements to build your business.

You must understand that your blog material (your posts and the expertise you contribute to them) will determine whether you succeed or fail.

Please prioritize the creation of valuable information first.

Content that both excites and assists people. You’ll have no trouble making money from your blog once you grasp that it’s all about your audience, not you.

So here are some of my favourite ways to monetize your blog:

  • Affiliate Marketing: You can become a member of affiliate networks and endorse items and services on your website. You earn a commission when someone purchases a product based on your suggestion.
  • Sell Digital Products: You can offer digital products such as templates, courses, ebooks, software, graphics, or images on your website.
  • Ad Income: If you successfully increase visitors to your blog, you can begin earning money through ad networks such as Mediavine or AdThrive, which will place advertisements on your site.
  • Promote Products & Services: You might leverage blog traffic to bring new clients to your site and market your services and products.
